Hero is the story of a criminal transforming and evolving as a good person under the influence of love. Jackie is a baddie with a heart of gold though, who has to settle scores with the area's 'Thakur' and his police officer son Sanjeev Kumar. So he opts for kidnapping their soft spot, Radha, Thakur khandaan's only daughter. Radha is given to understand that Jackie and his gang are police people who have taken her away to the safety of jungles because their house has been invaded by dacoits. The rest of the story is about the gang's camaraderie with Radha in sylvan spots and the discovery of truth by Radha.

Notorious criminal Don, Pasha, has been apprehended by the former Inspector General of Police, Shrikanth Mathur. Pasha has taken this personally, and has sworn to avenge his capture by doing away with Mathur and his family. To carry out this task, he hires his hit-man, Jackie, to first abduct Mathur's daughter, Radha, and then negotiate with the authorities for his release from prison. Jackie masquerades as a policeman and successfully abducts Radha, setting the stage for Pasha's release from prison in exchange for Radha's life.

Sunny owns a small livestock farm and lives a poor but happy life style with his mother, Sumitra. They wanted the farm to become up to date, so Sumitra decides to make a move abroad in order to bring new equipments for the farm, leaving Sunny in the care of the farm. One day while distributing eggs and chickens, Sunny reaches up with Roma Singh and both can get into the pettiest quarrels and they soon begins to fight and Sunny offers Roma to rebuild his farm house as a part of her punishment. Both soon realize that they are childhood lovers and attempts to rebuild that love once again, both are successful in doing so and plans to get married but there love is opposed by Roma's dad, the wealthy and famous businessman, Sardar Dinesh Singh Girji, who will do anything in his power to prevent Roma and Sunny from meeting leave alone marriage.

Sumintra is a widow who lives a poor life-style in a mountainous region with an only son, Sunny Kapoor. Delhi University's Professor Avantika Ahuja meets fellow professor Ehsan Khan in typical Bollywood filmy style, and both fall in love with each other. Her father, who had preferred that she marry a Hindu, reluctantly permits them to get married. They do so, and subsequently re-locate to live in the United States. They buy a house, settle in, and are welcomed by their neighbors, Hamid and Anjum. A few days later Avantika's world will be turned upside down when she finds out that their neighbors are terrorists who want to avenge the deaths of innocent Iraqi and Afghani civilians massacred by British and American forces, and that her husband is not who he claims to be.

Avantika Ahuja (Kareena Kapoor) who lives in the United States returns to Delhi after her father has a cardiac arrest. While in Delhi she meets Ehsaan Khan (Saif Ali Khan), a University professor from Mumbai. Being in the same career field at the same place, love blossoms between the two. Meanwhile Avantika gets a call from New York asking her to rejoin her job. She breaks this news to Ehsaan and expresses her desire to work in the US, Ehsaan agrees and joins her but before that Avantika's father has some reservations about his daughter marrying a Muslim. Avantika's life changes when her neighbor Salma (Nauheed Cyrusi) informs her about her house arrest and requests Avantika to help her by contacting her friend Rihana (Dia Mirza), a TV reporter. Avantika meets Rihana and tells her about Salma's problem and meanwhile she meets Riyaz (Vivek Oberoi), Rihana's boyfriend and colleague who takes Salma's problem as a case of domestic violence. Unfortunately, Rihana has to fly out of the city before meeting Salma and she gets her flight information when Avantika is still at her office.

Anjali, living in Canada with her parents, hides her relationship to the musician Raja from her parents. When her sister dies during the birth of twins, she abandons her love, marries the widower Aditja and moves to New Delhi to become the new mother of her sister's children. Three years later, when Raja visits Delhi on his concert tour their love inflames again.

Fearing that the twins will be neglected and harmed if Aditya re-marries someone else, she consents, and a quiet marriage ceremony takes place, and thereafter they relocate to India with the twins. Years pass by, Aditya is engrossed in his business, and has no time for Aarti, who yearns for his company and makes every attempt to be a good wife, going to the extent of trying to look exactly like Aarti and to please him. However, he shows no signs of affection. And then in a twist of fate, Raja comes to India for a tour, and re-meets with a much more subdued and mature Anjali bringing back old feelings. The only thing stopping these two from being together is Anjali's sacrifice and commitment for Aarti to take care of her children and husband, Aditya-not to mention two busy bodies Aditya calls "friends," Dil and Pallo

Madras Cafe is an upcoming Indian political action thriller film directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by John Abraham and Ronnie Lahiri. The main role of an Indian intelligence agent in the film is played by John Abraham, while Nargis Fakhri, who is the female lead, plays an international reporter. The film also deals with the subject of terrorism, and was shot in India and Sri Lanka. The film was earlier titled Jaffna. It is set to release on August 23. The trailer was released with "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" on July 12, 2013.
