The premise is simple. Mihika is heading back home from Mumbai to Delhi(to her banker husband who lives and works there), and misses herflight and encounters Manu Gupta, a podgy and loud 'Ladies Cut-piece'merchant who has a small 10 by 10 shop at Karol Bagh Delhi.

Manu is everything that Mihika isn't. Loud. Crass. Obnoxious. Rude. (Heis that guy who talks on his cellphone loudly in the theatre and thenspits gutkaa juice in the aisle...). He isn't an idiot. He is verysmart. Street smart. But mostly over smart. And boy...do they pay forit!

As fate (and the script) would have it... Mihika lands up in asituation where she and Manu are stuck together for the rest of thejourney to Delhi.

Master Dinanth (Amitabh Bachchan) is a freedom fighter and led the waragainst the British in 1942 and eventually won the independence in1947. But after independence, the people's love for their country seemsto be diminishing and they are too busy betraying it like richbusinessman Thakur Pratab Singh (Amjad Khan). Masterji finds out aboutThakur Pratab Singh's illegal activities such as smuggling of weaponsand ammunition and gets him arrested. In revenge for putting him inprison, Pratab Singh gets Masterji's wife Bharati (Sharmila Tagore) anddaughter Priti (Parveen Babi) kidnapped by Thakur's partner in crimeSher Singh (Kader Khan) to try and change his ways but to no avail.Thakur also provokes an attack on Masterji's home by the localvillagers who accuse Dinanath of betraying his country and he is forcedto flee his home with his young son Raju. His wife becomes a victim ofleprosy and escapes from Sher Singh leaving her daughter Priti in afriend's care. Masterji is informed that his wife and daughter could bedead as they find a necklace of hers near the train tracks. Masterji isdevastated by his wife and daughter's loss and he and his son move onwith their life. They settle into a slum called Bharat Nagar which isdivided in 4 sections with a don in each one of different backgrounds:Punjabi (Shammi Kapoor), Madrasi (Premnath). Bengali (Uttam Kumar) andMuslim (Parikshat Sahni). All of them love their own section but nobodythinks of themselves as Indian except Masterji. Masterji sets outtrying to bring peace between the four dons and once they settle theirdifferences the four underworld dons use the Masterji's stay in BharatNagar to cover up their own illegal activities. Fast Forward to 15years later the year is 1962 and Masterji's now grown-up son Raju (alsoAmitabh Bachchan) turns out to be the opposite of his father by beingdraw into the underworld committing crimes to earn money with hisfather unaware of what he does. He starts working for Thakur PratabSingh unaware that Thakur had once kidnapped his mother and sister manyyears earlier which caused their separation. Will Raju find out whatThakur did to his family, will Master Dinanath find out his son is notwhat he thinks he is? and will Master ever find his wife and daughteragain?

After having betrayed his partners in crime, Lucky comes in possessionof a bag full of money, which he decides to keep for himself and hisgirlfriend, Lara. Unfortunately for him, the money belongs to notoriousgangster Billa, who manages to locate Lucky, only to find out that Larahas taken off with it. To replace this bag of money, Lucky is told tocarry out an assignment on behalf of Billa by taking some\"merchandise\" to Goa. He is instructed that he is to proceed as he istold, and not be distracted by anything or anyone. Having no choice,Lucky sets out on his way to Goa. Once there he meets with anattractive young dancer named Sam, who wants him to kill her husband,Lukka, for a hefty sum of money, as well as a share in Lukka\'sproperty. Before Lucky could decide, he is contacted by Lukka, who alsooffers him a large sum of money to kill Sam. Things spiral out ofcontrol, when Sam kills Lukka herself, and asks Lucky to help herdispose off the body. What Lucky does not know is that Sam has not beencompletely truthful to him, and perhaps with an oblique motive withheldthe information that Lukka\'s brother is the local police inspector,who will leave no stone unturned to kill Sam, and whoever assisted herin killing Lukka. To make matters worse, Billa himself comes to Goa,when he finds out that Lucky has breached his instructions. Lucky isnow in an unenviable position, with an deceptive Sam as his partner; anangry policeman; and an even angrier gangster, looks like luck may havegiven up on Lucky.

Southall United Football Club, composed entirely of South Asianplayers, is facing its deepest crisis ever. It is bankrupt, with nostars, no coach, no sponsors, no spectators and, most importantly, noowner. When the club falls behind on the lease payments for its homeground, the city council sends a notice ordering it to vacate theground so that it can be demolished to make way for a commercialcomplex. South Asian football commentator Johnny Bakshi (Dalip Tahil)serves as the frontman for the council, and although he payslip-service to the contrary, very much looks forward to the demise ofSouthall United and the construction of the complex. The club has onlyone way to save itself, its home ground and its honour – winthe Combined Counties Football League championship and its prize moneyof £ 3 million, a very tall task indeed.
Southall United captain Shaan Ali Khan (Arshad Warsi) takes on thechallenge of trying to save the club. First, he convinces a disesteemedex-player, Tony Singh (Boman Irani) to become the team's coach, despiteits being branded the laughingstock of English football. Shaan and Tonyset about rebuilding the tattered club, and the team works hard toprepare for its first match.
Meanwhile, Sunny Bhasin (John Abraham) is an ace striker who wishes toone day play for the England national football team. However, hisdreams are shattered when he is cut by Aston, an English football teamconsisting entirely of white players, on account of his skin colour.Sunny has always disregarded his Indian background and consideredSouthall United to be a joke of a club, and as such rejects outright anoffer from Tony to come play for Southall United, at least initially.However, after his humiliating rejection by Aston, Tony reconsiders andagain approaches him. Telling Sunny he is sad but not shocked aboutwhat happened with Aston, he again offers him a place at SouthallUnited. Sunny, though, again turns Tony down, boasting that no Southallplayer can tackle him and that he could score against them in 10seconds flat. In response, Tony challenges Sunny to a ten-minute matchin which Sunny must steal the ball from Tony; Tony defeats Sunnyhandily, proving that although he has been discredited, he has not losthis skills. Seeing that he still has much to learn, Sunny finallyagrees to join Southall United. The other members of the club,especially Shaan, are not happy that Sunny has become their teammate,as on many previous occasions he had vandalized their homes and shops,but they eventually warm to him somewhat.
